Dr. Amir Koohestani, DO
Dr. Koohestani is our medical director and board certified in family medicine as well as Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy. He completed his undergraduates studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara and received his doctorate degree in osteopathic medicine from Western University of Health Sciences, in Pomona, California. He completed his family medicine residency at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Binghamton, New York, where he served as both chief resident and president of the house staff. Although he is part of the first ever group of physicians to be certified as Functional Medicine practitioners in November of 2013, he has been practicing medicine utilizing a holistic systems-based approach for well over a decade.

Maryam Koohestani is a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine with national board certification in acupuncture and herbalogy. She graduated from Yo San University in Los Angeles, California. She is also a functional medicine nutritional expert, who guides our patients in utilizing the amazing healing power of an individualized dietary plan. She masterfully incorporates acupuncture and Chinese herbs where appropriate in attending to the needs of our patients.
Shireen Koohestani, Certified Aromatherapist
Shireen Koohestani has a great passion for healthy living. She has owned and operated Health Nutz Natural Food Store in Albemarle, NC since 2008. During this time, Shireen has become an expert in high quality nutritional supplements and organic living. She has a special interest in catering to those with specific food sensitivities such as gluten or dairy products. In 2014, she obtained her certification in aromatherapy and has since become a vital part of the Medicatrix team in our continuing mission to provide holistic and integrative medical care to our patients. Shireen diligently tailors her essential oil blends to meet the specific needs of our individual patients.
Sandra Tucker, LPN and Patient Services Coordinator
Sandra is involved with your every interaction at Medicatrix. She oversees scheduling, diagnostics, and ancillary services and is liaison between the Medicatrix care team and all patients.
Susie Minarchik, Patient Services Coordinator
Susie Minarchik is our patient services coordinator. She is the most likely person you will reach by phone at Medicatrix. Susie is in charge of scheduling and referrals and also assists in blood draws and other diagnostic testing.
